TYM connects court-referred youth to meaningful community service and restitution opportunities that enhance social skills, facilitate connections with positive adults in the community, promote civic engagement and help participants develop a more positive sense of self.
The purpose of the Get Hired program is to increase employability and decrease recidivism among court-involved and at-risk youth by ensuring they receive the education, training, and support needed for success in the work-force.
Level Up provides youth ages 15-17 years old with Basic Employability training (not specific to construction trades) lasting 12-14 weeks to be held during after school hours 1-2 times per week for 2 hour sessions. In addition to weekly sessions, participants will attend job fairs and work with vocational coaches to arrange interviews with local companies. Participants who complete the program receive an Employability Certification. Participants who successfully complete Basic Employability have the option of securing summer employment or entering the PACT (Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate Training) if they meet the minimum required criteria. The PACT program will operate weekdays during summer break and consist of CORE Units 1-4, Carpentry Certification and a trade-based apprenticeship.
TYM mentoring provides group initiative activities to provide skill building in conflict resolution, decision making, and anger management which will enable our client to achieve his SMART goals. Each week mentor relationships are developed by engaging in one on one dialogue to address specific concerns.
